Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has announced that work is in full swing on the new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) project coming up on a 309,000-sq-m area in Sakhir.

The project includes 10 state-of-the-art exhibition halls spanning a 95,000-sq-m area in addition to the 4,500-sq-m main conference centre that has a capacity for 4,000 people and a number of meeting rooms and multi-use halls.

Set for delivery in the second quarter next year, Bahrain-based Cebarco is the main contractor on the project. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Board Chairman of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA), paid an inspection visit to the project site.
